 Process.

The specification of each loft conversion can vary greatly but they all go through the same basic stages. You will be able to stay in your house the entire time and, where possible, building work will be organised to suit your schedule. During the build our professionally qualified staff will ensure that the disturbance to your household is kept to an absolute minimum.

At each stage we consult with you to ensure that everything is progressing according to your individual requirements and that all building regulations and structural/architectural specifications are being met. You will have direct contact with your personal Project Manager so that any issues can be swiftly dealt with.

Should our customers require any further peace of mind, we are also accredited to offer the option of a 10 year guarantee through Build Assure. This is the flagship warranty, providing 10 years cover to your new loft conversion at similar standards to that of a new housing policy.

If you choose to take the option, this guarantee will provide you with:
  • 2 years protection against any structural defects or faulty workmanship resulting in your building failing to comply with regulations, codes of practice or matters which create a danger to the health safety of the occupants as defined by the policy.
  • Eight years protection against structural damage and water ingress relating to a load bearing element of the work, or other latent defects as defined by the policy.

Design

On receiving your instruction to proceed with the project, we will arrange for our design team to visit your home. They will survey and access the site and draw up architectural plans of the proposed loft conversion. Once you are happy with the design and have signed them off, we submit them to Planning and Building Control on your behalf.

Planning

As soon as Planning and Building Control have approved the drawings we’re ready to start! Your project manager will advise you of mutually convenient commencement dates and discuss the scope of works with you so you are informed of exactly how the build will take shape.

Build

We will arrange for our approved scaffolding to be erected and delivery of materials and equipment to your home. Your project manager will be on site to check progress and the Building Control officer will make regular visits to ensure work is carried out to building regulations and to our usual high standard.

Protection

We will give you a Party Wall Act notice for your neighbour to sign (if applicable) and a Plain English FMB Domestic contract for minor building works.

Completion

On completion of your new conversion, Planning and Building Control will make a final inspection and issue a Completion certificate. This is a vital document required for any future house sale. You will also receive a Part P certificate and a Gas Safe certificate (if applicable) to demonstrate compliance of Electrical and Gas regulations.
